The pessimists complain about wind, the optimists expect it to change but the leader adjusts the sails. Today’s youth are at a critical occasion. The current young generation is the biggest in global history and it is disproportionately affected by encounters such unemployment, insufficient access to education, violent conflict and a number of other challenges.
Surging youth activism and leadership has the potential to change the world. Accordingly, young people are increasingly being recognized as indispensable agents for sustainable development and the source of a demographic dividend.
We are all impressed by what Madam Caro Buyela is doing for our society. She has the eager to play a role in changing our community for the better, countless young people have become frustrated with political processes that seem out of reach and ineffectual. However she has turned to other ways of giving back to the community. Conversely, it is our role as the youths to rise up to inspire fellow youths to “opt-in” and bond for a common objective.
Webuye East is one of the most hallowed Sub-County with majority of the youths posting high literacy level with a more disciplined desire to play a public active role. They also demonstrate improved abilities to engage constructively with others. Fatefully this is not what is happening in our current lifestyle the current leadership hasn’t done it as expected.
It is Innovations that distinguishes between a real leader and a bogus leader. Beyond providing technical skills and tools, Madam Caro has noted that developing certain attitudes and behaviors can help citizens across Bungoma County to participate more meaningfully in public life. Young political activists have consistently mentioned the need for improved soft skills to work effectively and succeed as leaders. Through her significant projects in various parts of Bungoma County the folks are now recognizing the importance of putting these skills at the center of human development.
As a leader, she has instilled hope in her people to succeed. Through her Carol buyela Foundation, She is empowering women in the society and the young the generation to accomplish their goals. The good objective of leadership is to help the less fortunate to do better in life.
Focused and ready to work, I have personally been a keen follower of most of the initiatives across the County but not limited to:
- Grants To empower small scale farmers and small scale traders that will act like a stepping to stone to promote the business as well as empowering them economically
- Not My Password initiatives to mentor young girls and fight early pregnancies.
- Gentle Boys initiatives which is a program that target at motivating and building a positive self-esteem for the Boy Child as well as eradicating gender inequality and drug abuse
- Webuye East Volunteer team that will help in giving back to the society by helping the vulnerable in various locations to cope with upcoming challenges in our society
Madam Carol is an innovative and vibrant leader who is performing wisely with the aptitude to work for her people. Webuye East is waiting for her! Youths, let us rise up!
