ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi could be dealt with yet another blow if the latest sentiments from Matungu MP Justus Murunga is anything to go by.
This is after Mr Murunga told the NASA brainchild not to listen to Jubilee Vice Chairman David Murathe on any other 2013-like free endorsement from President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking today at Matungu CDF Grounds while issuing out 32 scholarships to this year’s KCPE candidates who scored above 400 marks, Mr. Murunga warned Mudavadi against being swayed away by “political losers” like David Murathe.
“Why should a mature and sound mind leader like Musalia Mudavadi listen to someone like David Murathe who is not even an elected MCA?” asked Murunga while addressing the parents and teachers of the scholarship students.
“There’s no way the Murathes and the Kikuyu nation is going to give you a free endorsement to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta. That one you are dreaming.” Murunga added.
Murunga also defended his decision to work with the government of the day saying it was all in the faith of brining development to his people.
“When you want the government to build a technical institution in your locality, you don’t kneel before the opposition but the government.” He said.
A week ago, Mr Murathe made the headlines when he told Deputy President William Ruto to “retire with Uhuru because the Kikuyu nation would not be forced to support him in 2022 general elections.
Mr. Murathe was speaking in Vihiga County during a Maragoli Annual Cultural Festival which was also attended by elite leaders from the Luhya community and Makueni Governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana.
Murathe’s comments irked many leaders inclined towards Dr. Ruto’s side in what pundits termed “Betrayal in the City”.
THE DARK PAST
In 2013, President Uhuru Kenyatta was on the verge of stepping down from the presidential race for Musalia Mudavadi until Uhuru “noticed some demons” that wanted to destroy his decisions, leaving Mudavadi with bitter herbs to swallow.
With President Uhuru Kenyatta assured of doing his second and final term, it was highly anticipated that his Kikuyu community would throw their weight behind the former URP party leader who has supported Uhuru in two consecutive elections.
THE EVER VISITING RUTO
The Deputy President is expected to attend various functions in Kakamega County including a local football finals in Justus Murunga’s Matungu Comstituency.
It will be the second time the former ICC war crime suspect is visiting Matungu Constituency in less than four months after first presiding over a Women Groups fund-raiser.
Dr. Ruto, who recently graduated with a PhD at the University of Nairobi on his birthday and wedding anniversary is again expected to return to Matungu in April next year, 2019 for another fund-raiser that seeks to boost and empower the bodaboda operators.
