The 2019-2020 English Premier League season is set to kick off this Friday, with Liverpool starting off the campaign against newbies Norwich City.
The transfer window has been busy as ususal, having seen the most expensive transfers of Harry Maguire from Leicester to Manchester United, Pepe to Arsenal, Rodrigo to Manchester City among others. Chelsea, under the tutelage of Frank Lampard, will largely be forced to rely on their academy and last season’s squad, as they serve a transfer ban.
Wakajuaness.Com invited fans to give their predictions for the upcoming season, numerically stating how teams will finish come May,2020. These are some of the sampled views:
Maurice Nyaranga- Zheijang, China.
“Chelsea will perform averagely because they do not have a substantive striker. They will rely on attacking midfielders for goals. Based on their preseason, they have been scoring yes but they have also been conceding many goals. This will cost them. I hope Rudiger heals quickly same to Kante so that they support the defense.
As for Manchester United and Arsenal, they have made some signings; Maguire and Bissaka for Manchester United while Arsenal have signed Pepe. We can only rely on the new signings for miracles to dawn on the two. Otherwise, they are still in problems. Maguire is quagmire, unless transformations happen at Old Trafford. Pepe would help but we cannot forget that Arsenal is equally having a defense problem.
Tottenham is unpredictable with inconsistency.
Manchester City has the best players and can outplay Liverpool and retain the trophy again. I am not anticipating for a miracle but only Wolves can comfortably handle them so far. We cannot forget that Liverpool is also struggling on their forward, however, they still have an upper hand.
I expect Chelsea with the youngsters to pull a surprise though! At least finishing top four.”
Kelvin Kirwa- Kapsabet, Kenya.
“As for me Man City are still title contenders this season since their squad is still intact. A few changes have been made to bolster the squad for the coming season.
Manchester United has lost its glory recently but the major signings of Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan Bissaka brings in more stability at the back which has been an issue to them.
I am so sure the Red Devils will finish second in the coming season.
Serving a transfer ban, I don’t see Chelsea being a major threat to both Manchester teams but if Frank Lampard utilizes the squad and the available players majorly those on loans like Tammy Abraham, Kourt Zouma and Mason Mount, then they will finish in a better place.
Liverpool will have a huge task since their attacking line is slowly fading away. With hours to the transfer deadline, Liverpool may not bring any new attacking option but I hope Divock Origi can step in well in search of goals.”
1.Manchester City 2.Manchester United 3.Chelsea 4.Liverpool
George Kinuthia- Bungoma, Kenya.
“The introduction of Pepe in Arsenal is a game-changer. The trio of Pepe, Aubameyang, and Lacazette will definitely spice things for Arsenal.
Wolves will be the new Leicester. It will bite people. Chelsea’s ban will disadvantage them.
The team to watch is obviously Arsenal. Man City will not shine this time round.”
Sylvia- Eldoret, Kenya.
Manchester United has not performed well since Sir Alex Ferguson left but that has mainly been caused by poor defense. They have bought Maguire and Bissaka and with a stabilized defense, they are surely worthy contenders ”
James kante Orito -Nairobi, Kenya.
“The League this season will be a bit tough but Chelsea are going to emerge the champions. The Chelsea camp is in high spirits, each and every player wants to impress their new manager.”
Victor Munialo- Kakamega Kenya.
“Liverpool will come back stronger, having won the UCL. Together with Man city, they have the strongest squads.
Last season, Liverpool lost only by a point and lost only one game having been nine points ahead. This season, they have more motivation to win the cup that has eluded them since 1990.
They are the Champions league winners. Salah and company will only be thinking there’s one more trophy they need to get.”

Dancan Macheso- Bungoma Kenya.
“The Red Devils performed poorly last season but they are a team to watch this season. I expect the title to be back at Old Trafford come May next year.”
1.Manchester United 2.Liverpool. 3.Manchester City. 4.Chelsea
Kennedy Kham- Nairobi Kenya.
“Manchester city seems to be a complete team with quality players. Their bench is as good as the first 11 and I think they will keep the title for the 3rd consecutive time.
Chelsea seems to have found form recently. Lampard being in charge is a boost as it will motivate the young players. Thought they are barred from conducting transfers, a good crop of loan players and others from the a academy will boost them.
Liverpool on the other hand are so inconsistent from the past seasons and so I think will be the same this campaign. They won’t be title contenders but will finish in the top four.
Tottenham will finish in the 4th position.”
- Manchester City
Mike Kaguongo- Bungoma Kenya
“Salah will be the man to beat in the race for Golden Boot this season.
This is the third season in the Premier League with Liverpool and still nobody seems to have worked out how to stop him.”
- Manchester City
- Manchester United
Njeru Jason- Ruiru, Kenya
“After UEFA Champions League victory over Spurs last season and a very stiff competition with Manchester City, Klopp’s men will now be a real force for 2019/2020 Premier League season.
The Reds are among the teams with standout performers. Notably, during this summer they haven’t released any of their stars, they have got many young promising talents and key players.
Manchester City are contenders for the Premier League but they might shift focus to UEFA Champions League and fail to secure their tittle though they are capable of maintaining the second position on the premier league table.
Tottenham Hotspurs is always unpredictable due to its inconsistency, even though it has all that it takes to be crowned as the 2019/2020 PL winners due to their new signings and very exciting talents. Certainly, their ending is always poor considering the last three premier league seasons. hence, expecting them to perform above average.
Ole Gunnar was very busy signing new players; Wan Bissaka, David James, and Harry Maguire on the defense line. I expect the Red devils to perform better..”
