Two Suspects Arrested for Defrauding Bata Shoes Company Over Ksh. 20 Million

Detectives based with the Directorate of Criminal Investigation on Sunday arrested two suspects accused of defrauding Czech based multinational footwear and fashion accessory manufacturer and retailer, Bata Shoe Company.

According to DCI, the two suspects arrested by the detectives based at Keroka in Nyamira County had defrauded the company over Ksh, 20 million, by issuing out fake vouchers.

“Following the loss of goods worth over Ksh. 20 Million by Bata Shoe Company through fake gift vouchers by fraudsters presented to several Bata shops within Nairobi, two suspects have today been arrested by DCI Serious Crime detectives at Keroka, Nyamira County,” they said in a statement.

It was further revealed that one of the suspects arrested owned a Bata shoes assorted shop, where shoes worth Ksh. 7 million was recovered.

“Intelligence leads saw the recovery of the assorted Bata shoes worth over Ksh. 7 Million from a shop owned by the said suspects, and further investigations are going on for more arrests and recoveries” read the statement.
