Three people are said to have lost their lives at Bukembe area in Bungoma after a trailer swept three Motorcyclists, killing one on the spot.

The incident, which happened some minutes after on Wednesday 11 September, 2019, saw the trailer driver allegedly lose control and spooned the motorcyclists before stopping almost a kilometre away after hitting another stationary trailer.

The unidentified trailer was reportedly heading towards Bungoma from Webuye on the Nairobi-Bungoma highway.

According to an affected eye witness who has phoned this publication, “the locals then erected barricades on the road protesting the accident,”

It is said that the other two did not die on the spot and efforts by police to rush the other two to the hospital were thwarted by rowdy motorists who gave the police a hard time to save the unconscious victims.

The angry residents are said to have chased a way the police who were later allowed to pick the bodies but with the two succumbing to injuries.

The incident has left a trail of road traffic stretching to as far as five kilometres as the two trailers allagedly blocked a section of the highway, hindering smooth flow of vehicles.

Motorists are now calling upon the police to move in swift and save them from hooligans who have taken advantage of the situation to vandalised innocent vehicles that are caught up in the traffic.
