Tanzania’s footballing giants Simba Fc booked their slot among the last eight best teams looking forward to clinch the continent’s most coveted club trophy, the CAF Champions League.
Being the hosts of AS Vita Club from Congo at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Simba made light work of the guests, with Mozambican striker Luis Miquissone opening the score at the half-hour mark before Zemanga Soze restored parity for AS Vita Club minutes later.
“Triple C” Clatous Chota Chama however finished off a brilliant play from his teammates, giving the Wekundu wa Msimbazi a 2-1 lead at halftime.

The second half saw a dominant Simba extend their lead through Larry Bwalya after 66 minutes, before Zambian Chama completed his brace on the 84th minute, sending frenzy over 10,000 fans who witnessed the historic moment at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
The win saw Simba, who are yet to taste defeat in the group stage, qualify as the top team. They have 13 points after 5 matches, with defending champions Al Ahly second with 8 points after rescuing a 2-2 draw with Sudan’s Al Merriekh at Omdurman.
Al Ahly, who have won the trophy for a record 9 times, were caught on the wrong foot with Al Merriekh taking the lead with two goals at the half-hour mark from Ramadan Agab and Saifeddine Malik, but produced a late comeback with a penalty goal from Benoun and last-minute header by Yasser Ibrahim.
Simba will now travel to Cairo for their match next Friday, where they will lock horns with the defending champions in the last match of the group.
