Popular musician Steve Kay from Bungoma has thrown his fans into anxiety after footage of the artist lying unconscious in an ambulance went viral on Monday evening.
The ‘Wambumuli” hit maker, whose real name is Stephen Wekesa Masinde, has become the talk of town ahead of his highly-anticipated video for his new hit Likobi (debt).
According to a promo video released by his manager Maureen Osiche, the artist is seen being rushed to hospital while lying unconscious in an ambulance in a synonymous trend of the Covid-19 pandemic where hundreds of patients are being rushed to ICUs for medical intervention.
The video has caused controversy on social media with thousands of his fans demanding to know the health of the high-flying artist.
However, in a clarification to this website, his manager has dismissed the reports that Steve Kay is unwell, saying that thee footages have been extracted from his upcoming video, putting speculations about Steve Kay’s health to an end.
“It’s not true that Steve Kay is unwell. That is just a promo video for his upcoming song Likobi which will be live on You Tube in a few,” said Maureen through a phone conversation.
Following the promo, fans are now hungrily looking forward towards his video, which will be among the dozens of music he has released, among them Mbe Mukhasi, Karamoja SuperCup, Wambumuli and his recently released Kipenzi.
Steve Kay has become the house-hold name among the Luhya community, becoming arguably the biggest music export from the Luhya land.
The artist’s rising star has seen the singer land deals to perform at the prestigious Koroga Festival alongside Kanda Bongoman in 2019, Jenga Jirani Initiative that is run by Jonathan Jackson Foundation where 50 acts performed and also winning the Xtreme Awards as the Western KenyaMusician of the Year 2019.
This has seen the singer earn more lucrative jobs that have seen him establish his own recording label his new recording label Classic Records on Saturday 29th February, 2020.
The launch was part the musician’s strategic blue print for the year 2020 which also includes Kuza Talanta Magharibi initiative, aimed at identifying and nurturing artists from Western Kenya.
The outbreak of the Coronavirus has however, slowed down part of that progress with Steve Kay promising hundreds of thousands of his fans ‘bigger things’ in the coming days.
The Likobi music video will be uploaded on the Youtube tomorrow Wednesday 25th November, 2020 at 8PM.
