Nzoia Sugar FC came back to winning ways today after outsmarting Ulinzi stars with a 2-1 victory over the soldiers to move up to 10th on the Kenya Premier League table in a match played at Afraha Stadium, Nakuru.
The Bernard Mwalala-coached side deservingly put outstanding performance to defeat The soldier men, who were topping the table before the game.
Speed winger Luke Namanda scored his debut league goal while marks man Masita Mesuta added to his tally to three goals.
The win moved Bungoma-based team to 10th on the Kenya Premier League table in their last match of the first leg of the Kenyan Premier League.
The game started on high note but both teams wasted their free kicks.
In the 7th minute, Laurence Juma was fouled and Luke Namanda hit the crossbar from the free kick.
Ulinzi wasted several chances as they failed convert their effort into goals. John Kago was among the players who wasted clear chances.
Nzoia came back in the second half more composed and were able to hold the Soldiers as Namanda scored a stunning goal past helpless Geofrey Saruni to give his side a lead in the 55th minute.
Masita Masuta found the back of the net in the 70th minute to double Nzoia’s advantage.
The hosts avoided a goaless effort when Waruru reduced the deficit for the Soldiers at the stoppage time.
