Kenyans on Twitter who are believed to be supporters of Deputy President William Ruto have accused Raila Odinga for Eliud Kipchoge’s loss.

The Twitter users have on Sunday, stormed on Twitter to rebuke the former Prime Minister’s move to ‘wish’ the giant marathon winner all the best in his unforgettable London Marathon.

In cold and rainy conditions, the world-record holder finished eighth in 2:06:49, more than a minute behind winner Shura Kitata of Ethiopia who finished in  2:05:41.

Kipchoge began to lose contact with the leaders with about 5KMs left to run, citing a blocked ear and hip strain during the race.

However, a section of the Twitter investigatives were quick to point out at  Raila as the cause of Kipchoge’s woes, accusing him of even ‘going to church’ ahead of the race.

Kipchoge’s defeat brought a bit of disappointment to his global fans but with many of them still hailing the Nandi County resident as their hero despite the performance.

The #KOT did only accuse Raila for the London performance but also extended their “frustrations” to the Manchester United and Liverpool heavy defeats in the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho returned to Old Trafford on Sunday evening only to inflict United’s heaviest defeat in recent years with a resounding 1-6 loss to Tottenhnam Hotspurs.

Ole Gunnar Solskjær’s boys thought that they could carry the day when Bruno Fernandez slotted home a second-minute penalty before the visitors pulled a party of goals past a helpless De Gea.

Minutes after the final whistle at Old Trafford, Liverpool refused to ‘walk alone’ when they joined their rivals United on the receiving end at Villa Park, swallowing a dose of seven from hosts Aston Villa with Mohamed Salah pulling back two for Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Here are some of the tweets:

This is not the first time Raila Odinga is coming under fire from his sarcastic critiques. In June 2019, Raila Odinga traveled to Egypt to watch Kenya against Algeria in the Afcon Group stages. Kenya lost 2-0.

In May, 2018, a section of Gor Mahia fans blamed Raila for being a bad omen to football stadiums when the Kenyan Champions lost to Hull City in a friendly fixture. The supporters had placed huge bets on the SportPesa website.

Raila’s hunger for live football matches was not over yet when he traveled to England to watch Everton v Goh Mahia in yet another friendly. Gor Mahia were thrashed 4-0.

Yesterday, the Nasa leader and Devolution CS Eugene Wamalwa attended a live viewing of the London Marathon. The screening had been organised by the Kenya Film Classification Commission at the Galleria Shopping Mall. Kipchoge lost the race.

However, not all the matches that Raila has watched have ended with a loss for the Kenyans. During the qualification matches for the Afcon 2019, the 10-man Harambee Stars pulled a surprised 1-0 over highly-ranked Ghana, a match that was attended by Raila Odinga.
