Following the news that Rhumba maestro General Defao will be performing in Bungoma this weekend, thousands of rhumba fans can’t just wait to experience the ambiance at Mutengene Resort when the Congolese musician thrills the crowd.
The management of Mutengene Resort announced earlier this week via Newaflash and Newstimes blogs that the iconic artist will perform live at the establishment this Saturday 6th from 6pm to up to the dawn.
While speaking to this site via phone, the owner of the popular entertainment joint Mr. Joseph ‘Lendrix’ Waswa confirmed that indeed the 60-year old who now stays in Kenya will entertain the locals with his popular hits throughout the night.
“I want to confirm to you that Defao will hit the night here at Mutengene and I welcome you all to enjoy the outing,” clarified Mr. Waswa.
Defao’s visit has now attracted revellers from as far as West Pokot, Trans Nzoia, Kakamega, Kisumu and Migori counties.
Stanely Muhammed, 57, said the experience will forever boost his love for rhumba since he has been a fan of Defao’s music while still young.
“I started listening to Defao when I was in my late teenage life but unfortunately, I have never seen him perform live. This will be my dream come true,” boasts Muhammed, a truck driver from Eldoret.
“I once missed a flight to catch his performance in Nairobi now I have this one bullet remaining in me to watch him live. Can’t wait.” Adds a lady who identified herself as Esther, 38, from Kakamega.
Mr. Musonye, a teacher at a private school in Bungom town also told this site: “Mutengene is just a stone-throw away from my home. I think Lendrix has done us proud by bringing us Defao,”.
General Defao was born in 1958 in Kinshasa, DRC.
Since joining music, General Defao, also known as Lulendo Matumona, has released dozens of music hits among them Sala Noki Animation, Agence Courage and Mosolo na ngai.
