There was relief in Nyayo Tea Zone in Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County after a hospital that was holding their son’s body over a huge medical bill finally released the body.
Reale Hospital in Eldoret had vowed not to release the late Vincent Kubili’s (pictured, file) remains until the family settles the Ksh2,304,365.
According to the family, the NHIF was only able to settle Ksh203,000, rendering the family helpless to raise the remaining cash.
However, it took the intervention of the area MP Bishop Tutus Khamala to write to the Asian-owned hospital to release the body after the story was highlighted on yours sincerely Wakajuaness.Com (see related story below this page).
The body was then released on Thursday and the 35 year old former Nakumatt Supermarket Bungoma branch will be laid to rest today at their village in Lurambi Constituency.
However, the details of the agreement between the area MP and the hospital have not yet been established to this publication.
The family has thanked all those involved in settling their grievances during this trying moment.
