Bungoma-based Nzoia Sugar Fc will on Sunday, 10th January, welcome Western Stima at Sudi Stadium as they seek their first win of the season in the Betking Kenyan Premier League (BKPL), under newly appointed head coach, Ibrahim Shikanda.
This will be the first assignment for Shikanda, who was confirmed as the new head coach on Wednesday, 6th January, replacing Slyvester Mulukurwa who is now the assistant head coach.
“We have appointed Ibrahim Shikanda as our new Head Coach. He will now be deputized by Sylvester Mulukurwa who has been serving as the interim Coach. Ibrahim Shikanda previously coached NSL side Nairobi Stima, and also served as an assistant coach at Bandari FC until the end of last season. Let us welcome Shikanda to Nzoia Sugar FC” read the club statement.
It is in the hope of many local fans that the appointment of a new coach comes with blessings, with a home match win. Nzoia Sugar Fc is yet to collect maximum points in their last six BKPL matches.
Head to Head
Nzoia Sugar Fc have drawn in four of their last six matches, with the latest being a barren draw against Kakamega Homeboyz. On the other hand, Western Stima have only won one and drawn one in the last six matches, with the maiden win coming against AFC Leopards.
Positioned as the 14th and 15th place respectively, both teams have 4 points and a win will be vital.
Fan’s Attendance
The match, which will kick off at 3 PM, will only have 50 fans allowed in. This is in regards to the COVID-19 protocols provided by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Sports.
“Only the first 50 fans wearing a Nzoia Sugar Fc jersey will be welcomed in the stadium,” the club said in a statement.
