Nkaissery’s Death a Mirror of Saitoti’s Last Moments

The shocking death of former Interior Co-rdination and National Security General Joseph Nkaissery has filled the headlines with the condoning hashtag #RIPNkaissery trending for the second day on twitter. 

A keen analysis of his sudden death reveals a huge reflection of the death of Prof George Saitoti, Kenya’s renowned economist and mathematician.

Sudden death

Having no history of any known medical challenges, the duo’s departure was too sudden that it instilled shock and disbelief to Kenyans and the international community at large. 

Prof Saitoti died on the spot in an aircrash in Ngong Forest while Gen Nkaissery, according to his family, collapsed at his home and died on the way to hospital.

Headed the same ministry

Both Prof Saitoti and Nkaisery died as Ministers for Internal Security. The Ministry of Internal Security is one of the most crucial and powerful ministries in any country.

Same age, 67.

At the age of of 67, death took away Prof George Saitoti. Yesterday, the same death denied Gen Nkaissery his 68th Birthday.

Emerged from the Maasai community 

As if that is not enough, the late Saitoti and Nkaisery emerged as strong leaders from the Maa community.

Died before elections 

While Nkaissery died yesterday with only a month to the 2017 general elections, Prof Saitoti died on June 10, 2012 ahead of the March, 2013 general elections.

Death on a weekend

Their further coincidence take us to the occurrence of their passing away which actually happened during a weekend.

Saitoti passed away on Sunday while Nkaissery died early on Saturday. 

Lee Funeral the Home

Though it may be a common place where bodies of VIP are preserved, the late Saitoti’s remains were preserved at Lee Funeral Home before his burial. Gen Nkaissery’s body is also being preserved at the same facility before his planned state funeral which has not been announced yet.
