The 175 students who benefited from a scholarship fund brokered by Matungu Member of Parliament Hon Justus Murunga finally left for their respective colleges and universities today.
This is after a final meeting with the MP at CDF grounds later today.
Close to two hundred students drawn from across the entire Matungu Constituency had qualified for the education programme which is funded by Rural Aid Fund.
Hon Murunga brokered a deal with the fund months ago as part of his efforts to improve the standards of education in Matungu Constituency.
On Monday 3rd of September 2018, hundreds of joyous parents and students converged at the Matungu Constituency CDF grounds for the launch of the programme.
The beneficiaries, picked on merit from across the constituency, will now see their dreams come true when they join various colleges and vanities as they take their desired courses including Engeneering, Medicine, Teaching, Hospitality and Human Resource.
“This programme is aimed at elevating learning standards in our Matungu Constituency.” Hon Murunga said.
The lawmaker also added that the programme seeks to benefit ten thousand students by the end of his five-year term as Matungu Constituency MP.
“With over 10,000 students from needy families benefiting from this fund, families that would never have seen their children step in colleges will now have full hopes and confidence for a bright future.
The beneficiaries thanked Hon Murunga for his kind gesture in ensuring that he uses his connection with the outside world to benefit the residents of Matungu Constituency.
