Breaking News!!! Kenya’s Supreme Court has ordered a rerun of the country’s contentious presidential election, after a legal challenge by the opposition NASA.
President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner of the August 8 election, but opposition leader Raila Odinga claimed the vote was fraudulent.
“The presidential election was not conducted in accordance with constitution, rendering the declared results invalid null and void,” read Chief Justice David Marag, ordering fresh elections within 60 days.
No Court on an African soil has ever nullified an election of an incumbent president.
The news of the ruling garnered electrifying reception across the opposition stronghold with unimaginable dances and cheers. (Sorry, power outrage here in Bungoma before I even finish this publication)
