Following the recent outbursts between Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa ana Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala, we can now reveal one of the root cause that has escalated their beef.
According to an audio leaked to this writer, Mr Echesa turned down Mr Malala’s request to con a woman who was seeking the Nairobi Deputy Governor’s job.
In the 84-second audio, a voice believed to be that of Senator Malala is allegedly heard requesting a receiver (read Mr Echesa) to pretend that the Sports CS is very close with Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko and the Deputy President William Ruto so that they can share the Sh1 million the an unidentified woman eying the city’s job was offering.
The person believed to be Malala then goes ahead to request Mr Echesa to move aside to avoid anyone else from listening to their conversation. Below is the AUDIO:
At the end, the deal is for Echesa to accept Malala’s offer and “eat” the money.
However, Mr Echesa turns down the offer and tells Malala to “avoid that game” and instead go to his office to “get some business”.
The CS had earlier on alleged on a Bungoma-based popular Nyota FM lat weekend that the Senate Deputy Minority Leader wanted to use his name to con a woman who was seeking the city job.
The seat of the Nairobi Deputy Governor fell vacant when Mr Polycarp Igathe resigned from the post in January this year.
Five months later, Governor Sonko shocked the world when he infamously nominated the deported controversial lawyer Dr Miguna Miguna for the post albeit rejection by the County Assembly of Nairobi.
It’s around this juncture that Senator Malala allegedly took advantage of the situation to attempt conning the unidentified woman that Malala is referring to in the audio.
It is not clear if the woman later gave Malala the money.
The recent days have seen the two engage in a war of words that have even escalated to nudes being posted on social media.
Three people have so far been arrested for allegedly photo-shopping Senator Malala’s ‘nudes”.

The trio, identified as Mr Davis Ndolo, Mr Stafford Ondego and Mr Alex Njue have since apologized to Senator Malala after “conceding” that they were paid Ksh5,000 by Mr Echesa to cook Malala’s photos.
Our efforts to contact Senator Malala over the audio were futile by the time we were going to press.
