‘It is a new dawn for Nzoia Sugar Fc’ says head coach Collins Omondi

Nzoia Sugar Fc head coach Collins Omondi Korea believes that tomorrows’ game against Ulinzi Stars at Sudi Stadium will mark the beginning of a new era for the team.

Nzoia Fc have been on a poor run of results, having failed to record a win in their last 14 matches and are currently placed at the 15th position on the log, a performance which Omondi says is going to improve drastically.

“If you look at our last three matches, we have been playing very well and the only problem has been scoring. In the game against Gormahia, we had good chances which we could have converted” Omondi said.

He also added that the fresh legs which have been added will help bring positive results, as the team is blending well. ” I have no doubt that the players we have brought in during the January transfer window will help bring positive results. I watched them make their debuts against Gormahia and they really showed a good performance. We also had a few days to rest and they have blended well with the rest of the team.”

With the main sponsor Nzoia Sugar Company set to resume its operations fully, Omondi opines that this is good news bearing in mind the financial constraints they have been through. ” It is good news and we thank God that finally our company is getting back to its feet. It is without doubt this will improve the morale of the players as they will be playing knowing that after every match they will be putting food on the table.”

The tactician also urged fans to come out in large numbers and support the team in upcoming games, noting that they must give them a win. ” I feel the fans, it has been a tough time for them, especially coming to the stadium and failing to go back with a smile on their faces. I however urge them to come and support us, because I have no doubt good performances are coming.”

Nzoia will miss four key players ahead of tomorrows game, having been sidelined with injuries. According to the team’s physiotherapist Amir Magwara, the four who will miss include Abraham Kipkogei, Leornard Kasembeli, Faraji Kabli and Mohammed Nigol.

Tickets for the match tomorrow are retailing at only Ksh. 50 for terraces and Ksh. 100 for VIP. The match will kick off at 2PM.
