Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale will have a new job at the County Government of Kakamega, courtesy of the Kakamega Governor H.E Wycliffe Oparanya.
Governor Oparanya has revealed this while officially opening the 5th Devolution Conference being held at Kakamega School in Western Kenya.
In his address, Governor Oparanya outlined key tourist-attraction sites and cultures that the over 6,000 touring delegates can visit, including the Crying Stone and the bull-fighting sport.
However, on a lighter note, Governor Oparanya pointed out Dr Boni Khalwale for continuously acting as the the sport’s ambassador, in reference to Khalwale’s nickname – The Bull Fighter.
Dr Khalwale is an ardent supporter of the bull fighting competition that entails two bulls being set up to fight each other in a field full of the cheering fans.
“As you know, Senator Khalwalwe has been our ambassador of the bull fighting competition but since he lost to me for the gubernatorial race, am considering giving him a bull fighting job in my government.” Hon Oparanya joked.
Khalwalwe vied for the Kakamega gubernatorial seat but lost to Hon Oparanya. His senatorial seat was won by former MCA and playwright Senator Cleophas Malala.
The two have since been friends and Dr Khalwalwe has recently showed interest to work with the out-going governor.
