Bungoma’s ‘James Bond’, the man who made headlines while clung on a chopper that was ferrying the body of fallen business tycoon Jacob Juma, has passed on, a close family member has confirmed.
The late Mr. Saleh Wanjala, reportedly passed on at the Bungoma County Referral Hospital on Monday 28th, September, 2020 under unclear circumstances.
Speaking to Wakajuaness via phone, his younger sister Ms Phoebe Nasali said that the father of one passed on at the hospital shortly after being admitted.
“We found him helpless in his house after breaking the door only to find some foam coming out of his mount,” said the emotional sister.
According to the Nasali, well wishers rushed him to the Bungoma County Referral Hoapital for medical intervention before being pronounced dead some hours later.
The 45-year old father of one shocked the world in 2016 when he ‘enjoyed a ride’ on the chopper as it ascended from the ground with the body of the tycoon. The late Juma’s body had been brought to Bungoma Posta Ground for public viewing. As the chopper was leaving, Salel hung on its skid for a distance of 1km before the pilot flew lower to rescue him.
He jumped off the chopper to the ground at the Bungoma Airstrip where he sustained injuries before being taken to the same Bungoma Referral hospital for treatment.
He was later arrested and chained to his hospital bed for endangering his life.
