Kimilili Mp Didmus Barasa has come out guns blazing, accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta of using “junior” government officers to frustrate Deputy President Dr. William Ruto.
While making virtual appearance on popular West FM talk show #CrossFire on Sunday evening, the youthful legislator questioned the manner in which the Head of State his handling government officers who are openly making demeaning statements against the former Agriculture Minister.
‘When you see junior government officers making embarrassing statements against the Deputy President yet the President is not making any interventions, then that clearly shows that the president is okay with it,’ said the first-time MP.
Mr. Barasa’s allegations come barely days after Environment Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko on Friday, referred to the DP as a “mere clerk” to the President, depicting that he has no serious influence in the government.
“The deputy president should be the clerk of the president,” said Tobiko adding that “and the way I respect the President as his clerk, even the deputy president and Murkomen should respect the President”.
Tobiko’s stinging attack came as he toured parts of Narok with his statement arising from the tweet by Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen in which the legislator referred to Tobiko as a mere clerk who needed to respect the President.
“Mr. Tobiko you are a mere clerk in Jubilee government. You forget so fast that you became a CS because the President was trying to get rid of you from the office of DPP. You have no moral authority to lecture your boss the DP even if he is being molested by his boss. First try to be MCA,” tweeted Murkomen.

In response, the Tobiko on Friday said: “Murkomen amekua kama yeye pekee ndo anajua kutukana viongozi wengine na kutukana rais. Nyinyi watu wa television muambie Murkomen awe na adabu na amheshimu rais.”
The latest outbursts amongst leaders is just an extension to the latest developments that suggest long are the days when President Uhuru and his Deputy used to wear marching shirts and ties during public appearances.
On Sunday, the Nation published a story that claimed the Deputy President is no longer using military and police choppers on his government assignments.
