Speaking during the morning show on Mulembe, Sulwe and Vuuka FMs, the Devolution CS narrated how he has fully embraced Bungoma Senator Moses Wetang’ula and ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi in pursuit of the common good for the people of Western Kenya but the duo who were in government for over 50 years have failed to follow the path.
“Mudavadi and Wetangula have been in government for a combined 53 years, yet when you ask them what they did for the region, there is no tangible record they left. Instead, they keep lamenting over new breed of leaders,” CS Wamalwa
“The sugar sector reforms are as a result of many consultative meetings. It all begun when we had an MOU in Sibanga during the memorial for Masinde Muliro. We all agreed as all Western leaders that we must revive our sugar sector and I was tasked to hand the MOU to President Uhuru kenyatta who formed a task force led by CS Munya and Governor Oparanya.”
“That’s the result of our deliberations. So when they stand on the fence and shout against the announced reforms, they are insincere and people must know.” Wamalwa added.
On Luhyah Unity, he accused the duo of never supporting the common unity of our people.
“Wetangula and Mudavadi have always fought Luhya leaders, they fought Masinde Muliro, Wamalwa Kijana and in 2013 when I supported Mudavadi, Wetangula fought me. I proofed him wrong when Mudavadi got more votes in Bungoma and Transnzoia counties.”
The CS highlighted that all cabinet ministries will be visiting the region from 20th this month is a development tour to fast track government projects in the region. He highlighted the various water projects he initiated in the region while in water that include: Kaptogot Water project in Trans Nzoia, Mt Elgon water project to supply water to Mt Elgon, Chwele, Mayanja, Kibabii and Bungoma town, Vihiga Mult-Purpose water project, Lower Nzoia irrigation scheme and the Sango project. All the projects, he said, are in course to completion.
The CS and Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya were picked by leaders to push for the development Agenda of the region something that has irked Wetang’ula and Mudavadi who are seen as long term leaders yet they have no development record.
“The Bible talks about the Zebedayos, who fought for power among themselves. Let our competition as leaders be on issues of delivery and fighting for our people pegged on ideas and not personalities,” he concluded.
