Could Uhuru Kenyatta’s 7-hours Meeting With DP Ruto Betray Raila?

On Monday 1st June 2020, President Uhuru Kenya had a meeting at the State House with Deputy President William Ruto that took almost 7 hours.

With major details of the meeting yet to be revealed, sources say ODM party leader Raila Odinga who after the ‘handshake’ has been the President’s best man, might be in a great dilemma.

According to, it is suspected that the duo might be working on their friendship’s reformation. Coming together of the President and the Deputy President could lead to bad news being escalated to the ODM leader.

If it happens to be a ‘handshake between the two, then Raila Odinga could face it rough come 2022. Having had a handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta, all the ODM members together with his supporters knew that things were definitely going to be good especially on the 2022 elections.

This was after the DP failed to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI), with his supporters claiming that the so-called initiative was means of pushing him away.

It has been seen as a method of paving way for the ODM leader to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after the 2022 elections, and there have been a number of issues that have proven Ruto’s suspicion to be true.

The removal of a number of leaders allied to the DP from various leadership positions on claims that they disrespected the President during a meeting is one of them.

But with politics being so unpredictable, could the meeting between the two leaders today be the beginning of a betrayal process for Raila Odinga?
