VERY IMPORTANT EVENT
In an exclusive interview with this writer, the Head of Academics Affairs (Ruiru Campus), Mr.Rodgers Meroka had this to add-on;
“The event is very important, it’s a platform that helps students identify and nurture their talents. Modeling itself is a career because the students can get employed in advertising agencies.
Students can also curtain raise their ability to perform in big events through spoken word, music,art and any other form of skills that they can come up with.” He said.
Asked how the college balances between Academics and talents, Mr Meroka added,
“They say all work without play makes jack a dull boy. We have an elaborate academic calendar that ensures each semester is allocated an activity. The first semester (January-March) is usually short but from March to June, we have a sports day, June-September there is a Talent day and September-December the Beauty contest where Students from all NIBS branches can come and showcase their talents.”
GOLDEN PLATE FOR WINNERS
Besides giving prizes and a fully funded trip for winners,the school goes miles ahead to look out for job opportunities for students.
“The school has partnered with Modeling agencies and they sign the winners such that if we have local, National or International events like Miss County Tourism, they can feature in advertisements. A good example is the 2014 Miss NIBS who had a chance to compete in Miss Nakuru county and won as well as Ms Maureen Mang’u who won the Miss Tourism Kirinyaga county.”
Among the participants expected on the runway include Mr John Ian, Ms Joanne Mwaniki, Sammy Waigwa and Esther Gichuru.
