Pupils at Ndengelwa Primary School will now have something to smile about after the County Government of Bungoma distributed building materials for their new pit latrines after the old ones were destroyed by heavy rains.
The move by the County Government, through the Department of Special Programs headed by Carolyne Buyela, was aimed at saving pupils of Ndengelwa Primary from sudden closure of their schools for not having pit latrines.
“We are here to distribute building materials to help the school build new pit latrines and ensure that our children continue with their learning without any interruption,” said Buyela.
This follows the catastrophic rain that also destroyed Lwile Primary School, Bakisa Primary school, Magemo Secondary School and Magemo Vocational Training Institute.
The building materials, which include cement and iron sheets will help revamp the institutions to normalize learning operations.
The department also distributed relief food to all the victims of heavy rains in the area.
Ndengelwa Primary School is just a stone-throw away from Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati’s residence.
Ms Buyela was accompanied with Bungoma County Deputy Governor Prof Charles Ngome and several other county officials.
