The Semifinal fixtures of Total African Cup of Nations will take centre stage today with interesting fixtures ahead.The key highlights and head to head statistics are analyzed below:


The Teranga Lions of Senegal come into this semi Final clash having lost just one of their last ten competitive games while scoring at least twice on five occasions.

It’s the only team in the tournament with great defensive form registering a clean sheet in each of those eight wins across that period. However,they have failed to scored in each of their last three AFCON tournament losses.

On the other hand, the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia have now registered a first half clean sheet in each of their last eight games unbeaten run which has seen them secure a goalless half time result in their last four matches. Notably, they are winless in each of their last two AFCON tournament meetings against Senegal while conceding twice on both occasions.

Players to watch

Despite two missed penalties, Liverpool star Sadio Mane has been a standout performer for Senegal so far with three goals and an assist to his name. Meanwhile, Youssef Msakni has two goals for Tunisia in this tournament so far.


The fixture has been dubbed a ‘final’ with football fanatics expecting an interesting match.

Desert Foxes of Algeria are one of only two teams in this year’s tournament f yet to taste defeat. Notably, only Ivory Coast secured to strike a blow upon the desert warriors equalising after the hour mark last time out.

Super Eagles of Nigeria meanwhile, have reached at least the semi final stage in twelve out of their last thirteen AFCON appearances although they ended up finishing third in their last six campaigns.

Nigerian hitman Odian Ighalo and Adam Ounas are both targeting the golden boot with three goals apiece.
