More than 1,500 boda boda operators in Kiminini Constituency are set to receive free driving licenses after area MP Dr Chris Wamalwa came to their aid.

In a deal that involves the NG-CDF, the operators will get a chance of acquiring free training and later licenses to enable them meet the criteria required by the traffic act.

Last year the transport sector came under scrutiny as the Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i introduced tough rules in transport sector.

The CS was very ruthless and strict to the rules.

Most motorbikes and vehicle were cleared out of the road.

Most of these drivers and riders had no appropriate driving documents and other road safety appliances.

These process has continually kept most riders at home as majority could not afford driving school expenses.

It’s for this reason that Kiminini Constituency MP Hon Dr Chrisantus Wamalwa Wakhungu CBS through NG-CDF allocated  some money  for boda boda operators’ driving school education.

“Learning institution is a place where people of different age category  get education. Driving schools are like any other formal learning centre therefore nothing will hinder you  from getting CDF money to sharpen your driving skills, ” said Dr. Wamalwa in a phone interview with this writer.

Hon Dr Chris Wamalwa CBS, who is also eying the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seat in 2022, also assured boda boda operators in his Kiminini Constituency that the Matiang’i rules do not affect their business operations.

“Before I go for higher seat I should leave a legacy to my people and this is the only thing they can remember me for and after I’m done with the boda boda operators, I will go for touts,  matatu  and taxi drivers. This will not only professionalize their skills but also enhance safety on our roads.” he added.

The boda boda Chairperson Mr Mayakula lauded Hon Dr Chris Wamalwa CBS step.

“Since I began this job have never seen such a caring leader. Majority of leaders have been hiring us to campaign for them but immediately after  victory they vanish into thin air,” said the operator.

“Most of us were worried about Matiang’i crack down that’s just about to be implemented from May this year. With this kind of support have many reasons to support Hon Dr Chris Wamalwa CBS  Gubernatorial bid,” he said .

Mr George Wanyama, the Boda Boda group Secretary seconded his chair and vowed to support Hon Dr Chris Wamalwa to the end.

“This is the real empowerment we have been waiting for. We will have skills to operate from anywhere within this country,” he said.

Mr Indimuli, a boda boda  representative to the NG-CDF reminded his colleagues that they never made a mistake in electing Hon Dr Chris Wamalwa CBS.

“As your representative I will make sure he deliver whatever he promised us,” he affirmed .

He particularly thanked the CDF chairman Mr John Siboe.

“The work that you are seeing here, it couldn’t have gone through without the stamp of my chairman.”

Mr John Siboe called upon boda boda leaders to speak in one voice for prosperity of the boda boda sector .

“Let no one bring here politics to jeopardise this process. I will be the happiest person if this exercise will  bring change in this sector,” he said .

The exercise is being driven under the slogan #WanaBodaBodaTupateDriving Licence.
